St. George Charitable Clinic
St. George Charitable Clinic, a brain child of St. George orthodox Cathedral, Kozhikode aims at promoting “Health care for the needy”. The charitable clinic had its humble beginnings on the premises of the St. George Orthodox Cathedral in 2009. Crossing the barriers of caste, creed and religion hundreds of patients are benefited with free medical treatment worth Lakhs of rupees. Catering to the needs of the patients the clinic, not only offers solace and comfort but provides free medical consultation of over twelve senior doctors of the parish, relentlessly serving for a noble cause.
The Cathedral with a nobler perspective has decided to extend its services far across Malabar in a greater way by establishing an independent charitable dialysis centre offering free or subsidized dialysis treatment in association with Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical Mission, Puthuppadi.
St. George Charitable Dialysis Center
The concept of the proposed Charitable Dialysis Center emerges from the need for dialysis facilities for a vast number of rural patients with renal failure. As we know, these patients are unable to afford the huge cost incurred in renal replacement therapy for a sustained life. It is pathetic that even in the modern era, this facility is made available mainly in cities, thus depriving the poor and weak of their livelihood.
In our endeavour to provide free or subsidised dialysis facilities to the rural people of Malabar, we identified ourselves with the charitable and missionary work carried out by the Puthuppadi Ashram, founded by Sabha Ratnam H.G.Dr.Geevarghese Mar Osthathios whose only mission in life was “service to the needy”. His unwavering dedication, loyalty and passion for the mission is our inspiration. We are fortunate enough to be associated with the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical Mission(MOSCMM), Puthuppadi established under the leadership of Valiya Bava H.H. Baselios Marthoma Didymus 1, the then Metropolitan of the Malabar Diocese.
We are proud that we continue to enjoy the favours and patronage of H.G. Dr. Zachariah Mar Theophilos, Metropolitan of Malabar diocese, V.Rev. K.I. Philip Ramban of Puthuppadi Ashram, the office bearers of Medical Mission (MOSCMM) Puthuppadi and St.George Charitable Clinic of St. George Orthodox Cathedral Kozhikode.
With their immense support and benevolence we were able to locate a suitable area at Puthuppadi adjacent to NH 212, in close proximity to the charitable eye hospital run by the MOSCMM. The eye hospital has been serving the underprivileged people of the locality with the goal: “Good Vision for all” since 1996.
